Registration
Registration for the 2019 WI Crystal Growing Contest is now closed. The crystallization material should arrive to all registered participants by March 1, 2019.
Crystal SUBMISSION
To submit your crystals for the Contest please fill out the appropriate Crystal Submission Form (High School Crystal Submission Form | Middle School Crystal Submission Form | Teacher/Parent Crystal Submission Form) and mail it with you well-packaged crystals to Dr. Guzei. Each crystal should be placed in a closed zip-lock bag stapled to the submission form. If you worry about your crystals surviving shipping feel free to drop your crystals off at the UW-Madison Chemistry Department, room 2122. All entries must by postmarked no later than 5/1/19 and should arrive to the Chemistry Department by May 8, 2019. All entries are judged by a learned committee and late entries cannot be properly evaluated.
Artwork Submission
To submit your artwork for the Contest please fill out the High School Art Submission Form or Middle School Art Submission Form and mail it with you well-packaged artwork to Dr. Guzei. If you worry about your artwork surviving shipping feel free to drop it off at the UW-Madison Chemistry Department, room 2122. All entries must by postmarked no later than 5/1/19 and should arrive to the Chemistry Department by May 8, 2019. All entries are judged by a learned committee and late entries cannot be properly evaluated.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
High school contest: Wisconsin high school students and home-schooled youths ages 14-18.
Middle school contest: Wisconsin middle school students and home-schooled youths ages 11-13.
Individuals or teams of up to three students. There is no limit on the number of teams per school.
Wisconsin high school and middle school science teachers.
The entries will be categorized in six different divisions as described below. Each division will be judged separately.
- Division 1: Wisconsin middle school students.
- Division 2: Wisconsin home-schooled students ages 11-13.
- Division 3: Middle school science teachers. Middle school teachers’ crystals are judged for overall quality only and are judged separately from the student crystals.
- Division 4: Wisconsin high school students.
- Division 5: Wisconsin home-schooled students ages 14-18.
- Division 6: High school science teachers. High school teachers’ crystals are judged for overall quality only and are judged separately from the student crystals.
There is no entry fee, this is a free contest.
